Woman in Training Series: Rejoice In The Lord
*Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice!* Did you sing that? I did as I typed it!
That is one of my favorite verses! I love the round song my siblings and I used to sing higher or lower octaves at each other as we were gardening in Sylvania. I would be digging chicken beds with a few of them and we’d take turns singing this song in someone else’s voice or a new accent or a higher or lower octave.
Did you know that the joy or the Lord is our strength?
Read that slowly.
What does that mean to you?
The Bible tells us over and over to take joy or have joy – “rejoice!”
To me, it reminds me that joy comes from the Lord. I can have joy in the darkest of times. I can sing when I’m sad or angry or disappointed to keep the joy from the Lord in my heart to give me strength. “I’ve got the joy. joy, joy, joy, down in my heart!” I love this one! “I choose joy!” by For King and Country is by far one of my favorite new songs with the same core message. I clearly remember the first time that I purposefully chose to be joyful during a time my heart was breaking; my first dog died and I found myself sitting on our swing singing because I knew God was in control. Choosing to sing “Onward Christian Soldiers” didn’t take away the pain of loss, but it did help me be able to go back inside and comfort my siblings.
Choosing joy builds the strength within you. When I praise, I can feel joy grow. When I work outdoors, I feel joy grow. When I smile and have fun with children, I feel joy grow. Yes, the joy of the Lord, choosing to rejoice, choosing to focus on the Lord to find joy is the way I feel strength grow.
Rejoice in the Lord!
This means to find your joy in Jesus. If you glance at the world and gaze on Jesus, you find reasons to rejoice! This is how you grow your strength! Thank you for air to breathe, for love you gave, for family, for smiles from babies, for friends, for beautiful trees, for colorful birds to sing, for every sunrise and sunset I get to see! Thank you God, for blessing me! I rejoice in Jesus!
Sing with me: Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice! (With a smile!) Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice! (Are you grinning yet?) Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice! (Thank you Jesus, for life, for joy!) Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice!
Allow Jesus to teach you how to regain your strength through the joy of the Lord!
Type at you next time,
